Where Art and Science meet...

Briane Olson- Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

I began working as a mental health and corrections nurse in 2013 and became a nurse practitioner in 2019.  I completed my master's degree at University of South Alabama in 2018; my bachelor's at University of Wyoming 2015.   Throughout life, I have embraced the times when others entrusted me with their thoughts as they processed life's challenges.

Serving in the mental health community in Wyoming and Florida brings a thorough awareness of the gradients of emotional pain we humans experience.   It also illustrates the need for individualized care.  In this private practice, research based treatment and medication prescribing can be highly personalized.  I help my patients in the unique way that fits with their ever- changing adversities, fears, goals, and hopes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner?

Psychiatrists are physicians, they are specialists who have achieved expanded training in psychiatry in addition to earning an MD or DO degree through several years in medical school and further years in residencies.

Psychiatric nurse practitioners  first become registered nurses.  They may then earn a masters degree as a nurse practitioner and attain specialized training in psychiatry along with completing clinical practicum.

Different licensing boards govern each profession.  Both diagnose, treat, manage, and strive to prevent mental illness.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

I do not currently prescribe controlled substances.  I provide mental health services through telehealth exclusively which means the head to toe physical examination for a controlled substance prescription could not be performed.

Which insurances do you accept?

I am currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, Oscar Health, Oxford, and United Healthcare in Florida.   Private pay pricing is also available.
